Appraisal Training Courses
Performance appraisal training tailored totally for you
We deliver in-house performance appraisal training for small and large businesses, public and private sector. Our sessions are practical, engaging and tailored to suit the skill level of the group. Managers with appraisal responsibility leave the course clear about their role, confident in their professional appraisal skills and motivated to make the appraisal process successful. They’ll also know how to explain the benefits and rationale for appraisals to their employees. Appraisers learn how to conduct meaningful appraisal review meetings, handle difficult conversations and manage performance on a day to day, continuous basis.

- Preparing objectively for performance appraisal review meetings
- Ensuring the appraisal review is a two way discussion
- Maximising the benefits of your organisation’s appraisal process
- Understanding your personal strengths and areas for development as a performance manager
- Setting and agreeing developmental SMART objectives
- Linking personal objectives to team and organisational objectives
- Handling difficult conversations diplomatically and confidently

Wish I’d done this sooner! Feel more confident and more aware of what’s expected of me as an appraiser. The main thing I’ll take away is how to speak to people to get the most out of them.
Lauren Riniker, Skin Clinics
Great course – really pleased I attended. Feel much more knowledgeable about the appraisal process. Will set me up well for the performance appraisals this year.

Appraisal briefings for Employees
Our employee appraisal training sessions are designed to ensure your workforce feel involved, motivated and engaged during performance appraisal reviews. We ensure employees understand their role in the appraisal process and the benefits they can gain. Our experience is that employees don’t always feel part of the performance appraisal process. Some see it as a process that managers dictate and use simply to give feedback on performance. Our staff appraisal training sheds new light on this perception. Employees will see that appraisals aren’t only about discussing how you’ve done; they should also be about how you develop, improve and succeed.
Session structure:
We can provide short appraisal sessions (between one and three hours – depending on your objectives) and accommodate up to 20 employees on each session.
Our aim is to ensure your staff:
Feel positive about the appraisal process and get involved.
Understand their role in the appraisal process and know what’s expected of them.
Get maximum benefit from performance appraisal reviews.
See appraisals as an opportunity for personal development and improvement.
Some sample objectives we can cover during staff appraisal training:
Being clear and positive about the rational for appraisals.
Understanding how to gain maximum benefit from your appraisal meeting.
Preparing comprehensively for your appraisal meeting.
Using your organisation’s appraisal process and system.
Ensuring you have your say and that the appraisal is a two way discussion.
Agreeing developmental SMART objectives with your appraiser.
Dealing with disagreements or conflict diplomatically and constructively.
Ensuring you feel the appraisal is conducted objectively.
Being assertive and speaking up for yourself when necessary.
Understanding that performance management is a continuous process.
Ensuring your appraiser takes account of your personal development needs and aspirations.
